Joshua 2:11 continues with this astonishing record of Rahab’s faith and God’s provision for a woman in an evil city. She said in verse 11 that the courage of the enemy was taken away because of the children of Israel and because of the Lord, your God. This is a side of spiritual warfare that must be seen. So many see spiritual enemies as the aggressor with the power to initiate warfare and destroy the child of God. In this text, the courage of the enemy is gone because they know the Lord is our God. She says the people in the city know that our God is God in heaven and earth. The connection between the God of heaven and earth and God’s people is seen in these words, “Because of your God.” It is this union between God and His people which brings extreme frustration in the plans of our enemies. Satan is the prince of the power of the atmospheric heaven, yet our God is God in that heaven. Satan comes to earth with his claims on our lives, families, and finances. Yet, our God is God on Earth. What a protection and a preservation to know that our God reigns, and we are under the glory of His Kingdom.

Joshua 2:11 continues to detail an account of great revelation into how the enemies of God perceive the works of God. They had heard of the mighty acts of God in the Red Sea, and the destruction of the two kings of the Amorites, and their hearts melted. It is very important for the child of God to know that the same spiritual enemies that try to assault, attack, and inhibit the onward march of the saints are at the same time melting in their hearts. The enemies of God are fully aware of the fact that the battle is the Lord’s. They know that when God leads the believer, He sovereignly opens the door, destroys the obstacles, and provides. The heart represents the sum total of emotional drive. It is this drive to overcome God’s children that melted and left the enemies with no power to conquer. We must see this side of the enemies’ despair as they look with a frustrated gaze on the power of God and the powerlessness of their effort. Too many times we are the frustrated ones as we look with human eyes at the enemies’ attack and are surrounded by problems and challenges. The lesson from Rahab is powerful. The hearts of the enemies are melting because of the display of God’s power in the life of His people.
