Joshua 3 carries us through another spiritual adventure of epic proportions.  Verse 3 gives a level of preparation that must be considered.  According to this verse, they were about to pass over to the other side of Jordan and confront Jericho.  Great victory was before them and in this moment of great anticipation they were commanded to lodge there.  This is a word that many do not understand and they miss great potential victories by misinterpreting these two words.  “LODGE THERE” are two words that contain a world of spiritual revelation.  Before God takes you into a time of great blessing and victory, there is always a time of lodging.  It is a time of reflection, instruction and adjustment.  It is a holy pause, a divine delay.  In this time, they must see the importance of the Ark of the Covenant to their future victory.  The Ark of the Covenant symbolized the presence of God and if they were to experience victory over the enemy they had to be rightly related to the Ark of the Covenant.  This holy pause became one of the most important delays in their entire lives.  May we see this in our lives as God attempts to prioritize His presence in our lives.

Joshua 2:21-24 continues this incredible revelation of the scarlet thread put on the window of Rahab’s house.  She received protection and preservation as long as this thread was visible.  Verse 22 gives a powerful principle that has a great illustration in the New Testament.  The spies went into the mountain for three days and the men that pursued them from the city had to return.  Jesus died on Mount Calvary and within this three-day period, no sin, no oppression, no power of the past could find Him.  He conquered on the cross, buried them in the grave, and restored in resurrection.  When the men could not be found, they descended and came to Joshua and gave the victory report.  Jesus descended from the cross, went to the Father and presented the report of victory, and now promises and guarantees protection to the Rahab’s of this world.  The report of Joshua 2:24 is that the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.  This is the report of the three day death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord.  Through the nails of Calvary, through the grave clothes left behind, and through the glorious resurrection, our spiritual enemies now faint.
