Joshua 1:2 — “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.”
The children of Israel had wandered for 40 years in a circle and cycle of doubt, unbelief, fear and confusion. They stand before the land that was promised them by God and are about to enter and dispossess the enemies and possess their land. To possess what God has given, includes the battle of enforcing the enemy’s defeat. Joshua 1:2 says “Arise, go over. I will give you this land.” This is the three-fold approach to possessing your inheritance. After forty years of living the wilderness life, I must arise. I cannot take the position of stagnancy, apathy, and compromise. There must be the drive to arise. This is where many fail and fall, so no inheritance, victory or triumph is experienced. I cannot maintain a wilderness position to take Canaan’s promise. I call God’s people to ARISE! The next command is to GO OVER! I find whenever God’s people arise, there is always a formidable obstacle that has stood before you challenging your march to victory that is crossed over. It is now the moment for us to go over, as individuals and as a church. Whatever the obstruction to spiritual life, or possessing your inheritance is, this is the morning that God instructs you to ARISE and GO OVER! Those who arise and go over receive God’s gift to those who are determined to be obedient, NOW RECEIVE!
